Thee Intruder - Part 3

Chapter 2   The Intruder

Part 3

The mood was back. They lie there contently in each others arms; by the faint candle light, refusing to move. The nearly pitch black room has never seemed brighter. Their suite had never been sweeter. And this moment has never been better. She was with him, willingly wrapped around his body; holding him as if he could disappear at any second. SB’s love and concern for his Best Friend was almost overwhelming. And finally she knew how he felt about her, and he finally knew how she felt about him. His love for her was undeniable. She was Patient with him; even when he pissed her off. She had an uncanny ability to forgive (not forget) but forgive. She also possessed the ability to look at her self – if there were times when she was just being unreasonable, he could say “Nic you’re being ridiculous” and sometimes (if she really was) she would stop and say “you know what you’re right.” He’d always connected with Nicki even from the very beginning, and could talk to her about anything, which in time lead to his intimacy and affection toward her.

“So, are you gonna tell me what’s going on? Or you wanna wait?” He asked. She would give him as much honesty as possible, he deserved it.

“I’m just confused faree.” She sighed, still lying on his chest. “I don’t wanna lose you.” She needed his love like she’s never needed love before. He tilted his head looked at her face. She was serious. Nothing kept her down more than the fear of making a dreadful mistake. Ruining the perfect friendship they already had, by taking a chance at something more.

“Where is this coming from? I’d never leave you. You know that.” He didn’t like her talking like that. The idea alone scared him.

“I know I just…What if we don’t work out together? Then what will we do?” She asked, almost pleading for an answer; desperate for reassurance.

-He took a deep breath. “You gotta believe in us Nicki. I can’t be in this by myself.” And he was right. He had never failed her before. Through all the yelling, screaming, crying and joy he was there; standing tall ready to face any dilemma that came her way; Never leaving her to face impasses alone.  She could trust him completely. There was no doubt about that. He was the first person she wanted to talk to when she woke, and the last person she thought about when falling asleep. Whenever something happened good or bad, she wanted to share it with him. If she had something crazy to say, a joke, concern, even a rant there was no fear that he’d mock or ridicule her. If she had a genuine worry she was positive that he’d meet her halfway, and validate her feelings no matter how minuscule they may seem. Most of all he recognized that women are completely different creatures than men, and keeps that in mind when responding to her actions. He was everything.

-She adjusted herself; now laying with her chin on his chest, staring into his eyes. “I believe in you.” She whispered. That sent chills up his spine; making his heart flutter. He breathed, caressing her face. She tried to swallow, but his lips were suddenly so close she couldn't even think. Candlelight and soul radiated creating a dream that could last forever; freeing their minds of doubt and danger. His eyes were so intense, like glowing coal. He reached for her, as she leaned in kissing him lightly. They were made for each other; there was no need to act like strangers anymore. He was her redeemer, the spirit that saved her. She was his everything; his purpose for living.  Though he wanted her right here and now, he couldn’t shake the feeling that now wasn’t the right time. When he became a part of her, it needed to be perfect. It had to be good for her. Pulling back, he wrapped his arms securely around her. She put her face into the nape of his neck; resting.

“So, you busy tomorrow?” SB asked casually. He was finally confident with his place. Knowing that no one not even Drake could take her from him.

“Nope” She replied in a cheerful tone; hoping he was planning something for her. She wanted nothing more than to spend an entire stress free day with her baby.

“Alright” Was his simple, lazy response. Now this stirred confusion. Why would he ask of she was busy for no reason? Something was up.

“Why’d you ask?” She asked picking her head up to look at him.

“Just wanted to know” He shrugged.

“Boy you betta tell me something”

“Shhhhh. Just go to sleep now.” He uttered petting her hair. There was no way she would give up, until he talked. A distraction was necessary.

“Safaree if you don’t…”

“Awww shit!” He yelled; jerking upright. Only half of Nicki’s startled expression was visible by the luminous candle.

“I forgot to pick up my laundry from downstairs.” He informed; racing around the dark room feeling for his shoes. Nic sat in the center of the couch watching SB scurry around, only seeing him when he was close enough to be lit up by the candle. She laughed to herself. What a nut, spazzing over some damn laundry. Room service would’ve brought it up in the morning.

“We’ve only been here like two days. How the hell do you have laundry?” She asked suspiciously. He wasn’t slick trying to avoid the question; But she decided to let him go, the questioning would resume once he was back from getting his “Laundry.”

“I’ll be right back!” He called darting out of the cherry wood door. Jumping off the couch Nicki flicked the lights on, enlightening the living room and dining area. Until now she hadn’t paid much attention to the true beauty of the suite; too caught up in sorrow the past couple of days. Now she could properly acknowledge the luxury. Never noticing until now the living room housing a huge golden fire place that resided across from the two dark maroon designer couches, the cherry wood wet bar, the glass shelves that rested behind it, holding various assorted wines and champagne bottles; The large dining area, holding a huge dark yellow top table, sitting on cherry wood legs, surrounded by six chairs; The 50-inch high-definition plasma TV above the fireplace. A crème walled, marble countered bath complete with a rain shower and super-deep tub, highlighted by a pair of large closets, private toilet and chromatherapy lighting. She strolled into the kitchen to find a breakfast bar that wrapped around the length of the room, equipped with modern stainless appliances, granite counters and all the average amenities, and a private balcony. A happy sigh escaped her. She would finally be able enjoy the suite with the man of her dreams. A knock on the door ripped her from her ogling. SB was back; nothing but smooth sailing from here. Walking excitedly to the door; practically skipping she threw it open. Her smile turned upside down. Drake. He had some nerve showing up at their door after all his nonsense.

“Yes?” She asked trough her teeth. He looked so defeated.

“I’m so sorry about earlier. But you care about me don’t you?” He asked; voice breaking. Nicki shook her head unhappily.

“You know I do.” She was afraid of where this could lead.

“Then why don’t you want me?” He asked craving. “I love you so much.”

“Why are you doing this?” She breathed.

“Because you’re lying Nicki, you try to fight it, but there is something between us and you know it. And you’re lying to me; you’re lying to SB, and most of all you’re lying to yourself.” His words would have been offensive, had they not been spoken so painfully. He marched over to her, grabbing her face between his hands,; messing their lips together. Stealing a kiss. She grabbed his wrists pulling away.

“Drake stop…What’s wrong with you.” It wasn’t a question.

“I’m sorry” He whispered; advancing again. This time she pushed him away, with more force than was necessary.

“Listen to me, I care about you Drake. But I love Safaree, it’s always been Safaree!” She nearly shouted. He stared intently in her eyes, waiting for some kind of contradiction to the words she’d just spoke. But there were none. He hadn’t thought of how she’d react; but this was unexpected. Felling embarrassed and rejected, he turned for the door with nothing else to say that wouldn’t make him look more ridiculous. Nic watched his face crumple in pain; a sight she’d never forget. Dragging her feet, she went to her room, lifting the covers and resting her head on the tan marshmallow soft pillow. She rolled onto her side, staring at the empty side of the bed. SB completely clueless walked through the front door.

“Nicki?!” He called.

“In here!” She shouted back. He walked into the room wondering why she’d went to bed; carefully looking over her sensing a mood change.

“Come here” She willed, gesturing to the bed. He held up one finger, sweeping the suite switching off the lights before returning to her. She lifted the covers when he approached her. Kicking off his shoes he climbed in, relaxing next to her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him near after flicking off the lamp. His arms responsively wound around her waist.

“You okay?” He asked concerned. Although she had to deal with Drake, breaking his heart; she was now with the only guy she wanted. And that fact made everything else nonexistent.

“I am now” She chimed; closing her eyes.
